The highest portion of sediment deposits is in the localities where the rivers Hnilec and Hornad fall into the basin. The analysis of the sediment deposits for heavy metals (HM) shows the following: 1. The small tributories (Bela and Opatka river), creat deposits with a low concentration HM. 2. The deposits of Hnilec testify the increasing content of Cu and adequate content of other HM. According to the agricultural norm they can be classified as the category B. 3. The deposits of Hornad river are very contamined by HM and belongs to the C category according to the mentioned norm. They are not suitable for agricultural and biotic purposes. |
